This is supposed to be the information page, but at the moment it will only show a shortened version of the bands biography. Papa Roach – A Brief History In Vacaville, a small Northern
Californian town, Jacoby Shaddix, Jerry Horton, Dave Buckner and Will James,
four mates from high school decided to make a band. In 1993, influenced by the likes of Faith No More and Primus
the boys started the band now know as Papa Roach.
Papa Roach quickly rose to the top of their local music scene in
Vacaville with their blend of hip-hop, grove-funk and hardcore.
After a few years of headlining coffee houses, pizza shops and keg
parties they were asked to headline places in San Jose, Sacramento and Berkeley.
Due to the antics of
unpredictable Shaddix, and the raw power supplied by the band in live
performances, Papa Roach captured the attention of younger audiences. In turn,
kids showed their appreciation for the band by faithfully attending all the
band's shows. At the start Papa Roach was only able to support the Deftones but
later went on to support bigger bands like Incubus, Snot, Far, Human Waste
Project and Downset which open their horizons right up.
In the summer of 1996 the band realised they had to make some changes if
they were going to get anywhere in the music industry. The first thing they did
was dumped their bassist Will James because of his summer Church commitments, so
they picked Tobin Esperance who had been travelling with the band for 3 years.
The second thing the did was get a manager to organize their bookings,
promotions and merchandising. With a
new bass player and management in place, Papa Roach decided to enter the studio
to record a full-length CD.
